6 passages

Passage 1- ” You lazy old devil. Idek began to yell.. Do you call that work? And he began to beat him with an iron bar”

- I feel so bad for Elie Wiesel’s father father. He was old and they had him doing work  where it needed at least all of your strength. In my opinion, if the man can’t go, don’t force him too, They also had beaten him with an iron bar. At least, he is putting effort into the work and trying. It was unnecessary.

Passage 2-” They’re bombing Buna!…What revenge! We had heard so much talk about the defeats of German troops… This, today, was real !”

- When I read this part, I was eager. I wanted to see more. Thinking of the joy  from the Jewish people. Seeing the Germans panic and get bombed. I wanted to see the Germans get a taste of their own medicine. At least now the Germans can be a little afraid of that and try to settle down the Jew workers. This is what I think about this passage.

Passage 3- ” Why should I bless him?”

- I don’t blame him for saying this. After what have all happen, no one barely helped him. Praying didn’t ,make anything happen to him. He worked through the whole Holocaust and his father died. Nothing else could of been better for him. He suffer through pain even when he was praying for his life. This made sense a lot for him to say that. This is what I think of the quote.

Passage 4-”  She seemed to me to be a Jewess though she passed as Aryan”

- My thoughts on this quote is that a religion is being accounted for in all the holocaust not by color or how they look. Since the girl is thought to be Aryan it is clear that the major factor in the holocaust is religion and belief of a group of people.

Passage 5-” Don’t think, don’t stop. Run!”

- This quote made me think that he was a very determined man. Who believes that he can get through anything. A person that just believes. I think this quote stood out to me. I would had said the same thing if I were in his shoes right now. I like the way he presents himself and it was a good quote.

Passage 6-“Men to the left. Women to the right.”

- After I seen this, I knew everything would be sadness. No more being a family. It just made me upset to see how they treated the Jewish people. It was so ashamed and so much pain inside to the feeling, that they won’t see their family again. As in one.

Section 3 and 4 questions

1. I think the Germans chose to hang a few prisoners in public at a time because to show how tough they are and that how much the prisoners suffers.

2. -working ethic – The maturity – The way they communicate- The work they do – I think what causes these changes is that how long each other can hold and what work is put into each other.

3. This was a significant act because he still helped his son even when he was sick and was getting to die.                                                  -I think when Elie means when saying, “the inheritance” is that what everybody has done to help him until now.

4. His experiences at Aushwitz affected his faith by how the way people are in the camp. The Nazi affected his faith of not believing no more. He had nothing.

5. His actions tell him that he is a clumsy worker. The prisoners should suggest that they should pick on this German.

6. A conflict that arises in Elie regarding his father is how to survive himself.

7. What happens is Elie s’ father died. I think is emotion at this point was he had nothing left but to just try ti save himself.

8. I think that sentence means like his father eyes never left him and the state of being in the Holocaust.

9. He tried to keep to keep it away by explaining the relationship between him and his father. He has been much more successful in his new life.

10. I think the meaning to “Night” is like he hasn’t live one night, that made him happy in the Holocaust. I would title this book “Survivor” because he survived through the Holocaust.

Section 1 and 2 questions

1.I think Elie describes himself as the middle child in the family and only kinda describe the people around him.

2.Moshe the Beadle is a a man of all work at a hasdic synagogue. He was very poor and lived humbly. He was also a past master in the art of making himself insignificant.

3. The town responded to Moshe and his stories by thinking that he made up these stories and thinking that he was a crazy man.

4. I think Eliie Wiesel begins “Night” with the story of Moshe’s story is related to what was happening there and what has happen in the past.

5. The German soldiers slowly took over Sighet by coming there and started a riot. Then, they seperaed everyone, like the wealthy and poor people. Building up bricks of walls in order not to cross each other.

6. Elie’s family broke up by the Germans and they had all men on one side and all women on another side. Elie only had his father. They got deported to different camps.

7.I think the Germans take away the inmates personal belonging first because they wouldn’t have any gear to work with incase if they tried to get away.

- I also think they do that because they are breaking up Jews from Germans.

8. It means that for Elie, it’s a night where he can never forget and where it has been a disaster.

9.I think this story is good. The way I think of it is like the story tells each of why and it foreshadows what you’ll know could happen next. I also think that it’s sad. Sad that the Jewish people had to go through this. Suffering each second of their life. This is what I think of the story.

“Bullies”

1. My reaction to the film was just amazing. Like how he had gone through so much and still managed to be strong. I also feel that the bullies are just jealous people who always pick on people.

2. Seeing Jamie experiences does not remind me of my life in the past. My life in the past was normal and steady. At FLC, sometimes I do see the bullying, but only when everyone is playing around with each other.

3. The potential solutions to bullying at our school could be calling each other names, stereo type, having negative thoughts towards each other, judging each other by the way they dress and act. I think the potential bullying at FLC can be very harmful to everybody and can he hurtful.

Monthly Book Club

Rodney K.

period: 10-11

October

Hoops

Walter Dean Myers

I think the purpose of the author writing this book is to tell us how he went through life with trying to reach his dreams with overcoming what happens in life and supporting his mother.

I think the intended audience for this book is a for someone that has a similar experience.

I would rate the book an 8 out of 10.

I gave this book an 8 because it showed a lot of contents you wouldn’t want kids to read as in 12 or younger. Also I would like to add that in order to read this book, you will have to understand what is happening in life as in the present and you will get this story. That is why I ave this story an 8.

Teen article

  • The main problem about American teens reading habits is that they are conducted from the educational technology firm renaissance learning.
  • I agree with this argue because it’s what might get kids interested into reading. Magazines, articles, are types of things we could learn and find new interesting things in life.
  • My current book for this class is pretty interesting. It deals with things I am interested in such as basketball.

Flood in Pakistan

I think the flood in pakistan was a disaster. I felt real bad for all the people that had to suffer this in Pakistan and that they had lost a lot. I wish there was something I can do to help them and give them what they need. This article is inspiring to me to help the world.
